Many candidates ask:
“How much time do I need?”
There is no single number. But there are realistic time ranges.
Time depends on:
your current level
how often you use English
how you train for the exam
Thats why today you'll learn...JFLT / STANAG 6001: Realistic Preparation Time
From Level 2 to Level 3
6–9 months
Level 3 requires:
understanding long listening tasks
speaking clearly with time limits
writing organised answers
This is not basic English. Most candidates need 6–9 months of structured training.
Level 2+ (close to Level 3)
8–12 weeks
If you:
understand spoken English well
read in English
use English often
Then English is not the main problem.
The problem is exam performance:
listening task types
speaking structure
writing organisation
With focused training, 2–3 months is enough.
From 3333 to 4444
6–12 months
Level 4 is different from Level 3.
It requires:
analysis
clear arguments
advanced vocabulary
This level takes time. It cannot be rushed.
JFLT / STANAG 6001: Realistic Preparation Time for if you are a little rusty.
If Your English Is Rusty
If you studied English years ago but do not use it now:
Expect 5–7 months to rebuild:
pronunciation
vocabulary
fluency
confidence
This is normal.
What Usually Wastes Time
Candidates lose months because they:
study without exam focus
practise without correction
guess what the exam wants
More study does not always mean better results...
Time matters. But training method matters more.
